D23, The Official Disney Fan Club, has shared a first look at the brand-new D23 Gold Member Collector Set for 2022, this time inspired by Disney Parks around the world with a retro travel twist.
Created exclusively for D23 Gold Members, this collection features a retro-inspired aviation pin, a luggage tag, a set of seven custom-designed pins, and a one-of-a-kind passport.
This collection’s global tour begins with the Passport packet, which opens with a welcome letter from Michael Vargo, head of D23, and a guide to the Disney Parks around the world, plus history and facts.
D23 Gold Members have earned their wings with this collection, and can commemorate the milestone with the exclusive aviation pin. Fashioned just for Gold Members by Disney, this retro-style pin is inspired by classic airline “wings” badges, complete with a Mickey depicted in classic style and an overall gold finish.
The classically-styled metal luggage tag comes etched with the D23 logo and the official Mickey-and-airplane-tail emblem from the logo that adorned Walt Disney’s Gulfstream company plane.
Designed just for Gold Members, the Disney Parks Around the World pin set features seven deluxe-sized, gold-toned hard enamel pins, designed by Disney artist Alex Riegert-Waters. Each pin depicts icons from each of the Disney Parks around the world: Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and Shanghai Disney Resort. The Disney Cruise Line pin celebrates the upcoming launch of the Disney Wish — which sets sail in summer 2022 — with imagery of Captain Minnie and Sailor Chip ‘n’ Sailor Dale.
The pins themselves are set upon a map of the world complete with Disney art by Disney artist Bryan Mon, depicting international landmarks while simultaneously showing off the pin set.
The 2022 D23 Gold Member Collector Set will be available for new D23 Gold Members joining on either an Individual Plan or Duo Plan (with the set sent to the primary member) starting Jan. 1, 2022. Current Gold Members will have their set shipped after their D23 Gold Membership renewal in 2022. There is a limit of one set per membership plan.
