Tehran-In the past few years, especially since the United States re-imposed sanctions, strengthening domestic production and achieving self-reliance have become Iran's main strategies in various fields.

This new strategy has been implemented in various sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, and the power sector that is vital to the country's development.

In this regard, as in the previous year, the Ministry of Energy has placed the localization of the main equipment and projects used in the industry on the top agenda of the current Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21), which was named "Production: Support "years. And remove obstacles."

Therefore, all organizations and entities in the energy sector are required to develop special plans to support domestic equipment and machinery production.

As a major player in the national power generation field, the Thermal Power Plant Holding Company (TPPH) has always been one of the pioneers in this regard.

According to Ali Isa-Pour, director of the TPPH Localization Office, currently, about 80% of the cutting-edge equipment used in the construction and maintenance of power plants in the country is provided by domestic manufacturers.

The official pointed out that last year, more than 350,000 power plant equipment was manufactured by domestic companies and supplied to power plants across the country.

"In the era of sanctions, in accordance with the government's overall policy of maximizing the production capacity of domestic enterprises and empowering enterprises to reduce dependence, the localization of parts and equipment has become the top priority of the thermal power plant holding and its subsidiaries," Issa Poole Say.

The company also plans to publish information about domestically produced equipment and parts on a dedicated website so that other power plant companies across the country can order items they may need.

Completely self-sufficient construction of gas-fired power plants

In addition to the above achievements, in some areas, the country has even become fully self-sufficient, able to export equipment and machinery to other countries.

According to Mohammad-Vali Alaedini, the former managing director of the Iranian Electric Equipment Manufacturing and Supply Company (SATKAB), the country is fully capable of producing and exporting all the equipment and services required for the construction of gas-fired power plants.

"Our ability to manufacture and supply hydropower equipment has reached our ability not only to fully meet our domestic needs but also to export them to other countries," Alaedini said.

He mentioned that Iraq, Armenia, Syria and Tajikistan are some of the export destinations of Iran’s energy equipment and services, and added: “We have achieved 80% self-sufficiency in the construction of other power plant equipment, and at the same time in the construction of natural gas power plants. , We are completely self-sufficient in hydroelectric power plants and dams, and export services to other countries."

As another major initiative for the energy industry to be completely self-reliant, Iran’s MAPNA Group is the first and leading general contractor of West Asia thermal power plants in the Middle East and North Africa. It recently announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran will become an exporter of new gas turbines in the near future.

MAPNA head Abbas Ali-Abadi said during the signing ceremony of the agreement to manufacture MGT-75 gas turbines for TPPH in late March: “Iran now has the knowledge and technology to design and manufacture various new types of gas turbines. Turbines worldwide.”

"We will launch this turbine [MGT-75] on the global market soon, and it will undoubtedly be well received," Ali-Abadi added.

MAPNA has previously manufactured E- and F-class turbines, such as MGT-70.

Turning the restrictions imposed by US sanctions into opportunities, the Islamic Republic, which used to import such equipment from Germany's Siemens and other foreign countries, is now among the world's top high-efficiency power plant manufacturers.
